Welcome to St. David's Anglican~Lutheran Church

Located in the south end of Orillia, Ontario, Canada.

St. David's is a congregation of people committed to service in our community, deepening our understanding of God's calling in our lives, and offering prayer that is vital and thought-provoking.

We have been generously blessed by God in our recent amalgamation of two formerly separate churches - one Anglican, one Lutheran.

We stand in witness that we are stronger for being together,
that the differences that divide us are much smaller than the grace of God which unites us.
Journeying together to grow in faith and serve God's world
God's work is meant to be done
hand in hand.

Our Vision
1.  We envision a church where the Good News is proclaimed in worship that is alive, clear and thought-provoking.

2.  We envision a church where all members are actively connecting the stories, prayers and teachings of our faith with everyday life.

3.  We envision a church which equips our individual households to be places of faith.

4.  We envision a church which discovers, nurtures, utilizes and celebrates the gifts God has given us in doing the work of Jesus, both inside and outside the church.

5.  We envision a church that develops its property and facilities to meet the changing needs of its members and the  wider community.

6.  We envision a church that stands in solidarity with, and welcomes into its midst, any who are marginalized and who experience injustice.

7. We envision a church that works co-operatively with other ecumenical partners and social networks to achieve justice and peace.

8.  We envision a church that is conscious of its use of land, water, and energy, and seeks to reduce, reuse, recycle, and use energy as efficiently as possible.

Our Values
1.  Relationship
We value our calling to proclaim the Good News of God in Christ in word and in deed, and therefore strive to equip members to be able to name and respond passionately to our relationship with God in Christ.

2.  Teaching
We value our responsibility to nurture the faith of our members and therefore strive to provide educational opportunities to meet the needs and questions of our diverse congregation.

3.  Loving Service
We value our collective ministry to respond to human need with loving service, and therefore strive to identify and address local and global need, and develop, nurture, and celebrate the wide variety of ministries in which our members are involved.

4.  Transformation
We value our participation in God’s transformation of the unjust structures of society and therefore strive to embody Christ’s compassion in reaching out to society’s marginalized and to work with others to bring about necessary change.

5.  Creation
We value God’s creation and therefore strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and to sustain and renew the life of the earth.

6.  Generosity
We value God’s generosity and strive to be a church rooted in thoughtful stewardship of God’s abundance and in attitudes and actions of gratitude.

7.  Questions
We value a faith that is alive, and therefore strive to be a church that is engaged by challenging questions and that provides a secure and open environment in which we can support one another in difficult conversations.

8.  Hospitality
We value the stories of our faith, which tell of a God who welcomes the stranger and calls us to do the same, and therefore we strive to be a church that embodies warm and undiscriminating hospitality.
